Tamweel… takes a “BAO”!

Tamweel has advised JKS Restaurants on the sale of their stake in BAOthe critically acclaimed, Taiwanese inspired restaurant brand. The JKS stake was acquired by The Lo & Behold Group, a leading Singaporean hospitality platform behind three Michelin-starred French restaurant Odette as well as award winning brands The Warehouse Hotel and Tanjong Beach Club.

Founded by Shing Tat Chung, Erchen Chang and Wai Ting Chung, BAO began as a humble street food stall in East London – and quickly evolved into one of London’s most exciting, design focussed and culinary led hospitality concepts. With cult-favourite steamed bun dishes and a fiercely creative spirit, BAO has grown to seven sites across London, including the newly opened BAO City, its restaurant and karaoke flagship venue.

Jyotin Sethi, Co-Founder & CEO, JKS Restaurants, said: “Helping the founders of BAO grow their vision into one of London’s stand out restaurant brands has been a privilege. Their journey reflects everything we strive for at JKS – backing exceptional talent that combines the best of culinary excellence and guest experience.”

BAO Co-Founder & CEO Shing Tat Chung, added: “BAO’s success is thanks to the belief that JKS placed in us. Our partnership took us from a humble street-food stall to opening seven restaurants together, and we’ve learned so much from their relentless drive for excellence. As we look ahead to the next ten years, we’re thrilled to partner with TLBG – looking forward to the energy and vision they’ll bring to our journey. Together, we embark on an exhilarating new chapter, one that will carry BAO, fuelled by our shared passion for creativity and innovation, into an exciting new era.”
